POSITION : Registered General Nurse (RGN)

DEPARTMENT : Care Staff

REPORTS TO : Deputy Matron

Your duties include to:

  • Have regard to the care and the physical, mental and spiritual welfare of residents in all you do;
  • Supervise non-trained staff and co-operate with your Matron / Nurse in Charge regarding the in-service training of staff;
  • Give prescribed drugs to residents and take responsibility for the safe-keeping of prescribed lotions and scheduled drugs;
  • Comply at all times with Health and Safety legislation, and ensure compliance by other members of staff;
  • Maintain the confidentiality of any information received by you regarding residents and visitors;
  • Be available to attend to residents and their visitors when necessary;
  • Report on the day to day condition of residents and to keep accurate records of drug administration / accidents / death / infectious diseases and to report these matters to the correct authority where necessary;
  • Liaise with the general medical practitioners (GPs) who attend the residents and carry out the instructions prescribed for the care of the residents by their GPs;
  • Assist in organising recreational activities for residents;
  • Ensure the safe disposal of soiled linen, dirty dressings and sharp instruments and to instruct untrained staff on the safe disposal of the same, having regard to the requirements of applicable health and safety legislation.

SPECIFICATIONS

Education

Graduate of Nursing school or Certificate of Nursing lecture courses or reference letter duly signed by the administrator of a registered nursing foundation. Speak Greek and speak and write excellent English.

Experience

Should have worked in a clinic, a hospital or in a nursing home as nurse.

Other

Must be people oriented and have very good human relations.
Must be available to work any day of the week and any hour of the day.
Medical certificate of good health as that is required by the nursing home’s regulation.

POSITION : Domestic Assistant

DEPARTMENT : Maintenance Staff

REPORTS TO : Matron

The duties of your employment require you to:-

  • Be responsible for the day to day cleanliness of the Home under the supervision of the Matron or nurse in charge;
  • Perform your duties with regard to the requirements of applicable health and safety legislation regarding the correct use of equipment and cleaning materials;
  • Ensure the absence of risk from the storage and handling or cleaning substances and to assess their effects, as required by the COSHH Act 1988;
  • Respect the privacy and independence of residents by obtaining their permission before entering their rooms for cleaning purposes and by working in a manner that causes the minimum of inconvenience to residents;
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all information obtained by you regarding residents and visitors;
  • Establish and work to a cleaning rota.
  • Bring to the attention of the Matron or nurse in charge, any maintenance requirements and broken equipment observed by you;
  • Be willing and available to participate in any training programme considered necessary for the performance of your duties;
  • Make yourself aware of fire regulations and the whereabouts of fire extinguishers, exits etc.;
  • Reporting all accidents of which you are aware to Matron or the nurse in charge.

SPECIFICATIONS

Education

A very good knowledge of domestic duties. Reference letter from previous employer.

Experience

Should have worked in a clinic, a hospital or a hotel as domestic assistant.

Other

Medical certificate of good health as that is required by the nursing home’s regulation.

POSITION : Care Assistant

DEPARTMENT : Care Staff

REPORTS TO : Nurse in Charge

Your principal duties are:

  • Under the supervision of trained staff, to attend to the daily physical mental and spiritual care and welfare of residents;
  • To report to the Nurse in Charge any alteration observed by you in a resident’s mental or physical health;
  • To maintain the confidentiality of information obtained by you regarding residents and visitors;
  • To serve meals to residents and visitors;
  • To dispose of soiled linen in an hygienic manner;
  • To take care of the personal cleanliness and hygiene of the residents;
  • To ensure that the residents’ environment is clean and comfortable;
  • To participate in, and encourage resident participation in, resident recreational activities;
  • To be responsible for the personal safety and generally the security of the residents under the supervision of the Deputy Matron or the Nurse in Charge;
  • To ensure your awareness of the requirements of applicable health and safety legislation and its implications to your work;
  • To make yourself aware of the fire regulations and the whereabouts of extinguishers, exits etc.

SPECIFICATIONS

Education

Collage Instruction, in a field relative to the needs of an adults’ special group. Secondary Instruction with a reference letter from the administrator of a nursing home.

Experience

Should have worked in rehabilitation centre or psychiatric clinic or nursing home as care assistant.

Other

Must be individual of patience, with special abilities in human relations and above all to love this job. Must be available to work any day of the week and any hour of the day. Medical certificate of good health as that is required by the nursing home’s regulation.
